about

On June 12th, 2006, György Ligeti, one of the greatest contemporary composers, passed away leaving us with an undeniably unique and original body of work. A death greatly overlooked or even ignored by most of the media at the time, hence the creation of a tribute project in the following days on the late Planet-Mu Phorum.
µ-Ziq was the first artist to send in a track and many quickly followed. The György Ligeti Tribute website launched in June 2007 with a dozen of exclusive compositions (sometimes very) loosely inspired by the works of György Ligeti - all submitted by IDM, avant-garde and electro-acoustic artists.
Until 2011, more contributions kept coming in once in a while, amounting to a total of 30 different pieces.
For the past few years, the website was hardly accessible due to outdated technical constraints, so here is the full project again, remastered from the original lossless tracks, all filed by order of submission (as they were in the original project), now more conveniently hosted on Bandcamp via the Antipolis netlabel.
It was free and it still is. Enjoy.

Tracks 1 to 8 were submitted in 2006 and released in 2007
Tracks 9 to 19 were submitted and released in 2007
Tracks 20 to 23 were submitted and released in 2008
Tracks 24 to 26 were submitted and released in 2009
Tracks 27 to 29 were submitted and released in 2010
Track 30 was submitted and released in 2011

Downloads are limited to 200 per month.
